Margaret Pearse & Co – Performance Event Saturday January 7th 8:00pm

January 2, 2017 by Kathleen Warner Yeates Leave a Comment

As part of the Illuminate Herstory Festival events around Nollaig na mBan, we have created a site-specific theatre event inspired by the life of Margaret Pearse, mother of Patrick Pearse.  It is part of a larger movement to bring the forgotten women of history into the light of public awareness.

WHEN: Saturday Evening January 7th, 2017 8:00pm-8:45pm
WHERE: Ireland Institute, 27 Pearse Street, Dublin 2
TICKETS:  €5 through eventbrite ticket link here: Margaret Pearse & Co Tickets.

This dynamic production, involving actors and musicians, will move through the historic home of Margaret and the Pearse family in The Ireland Institute, progress to the Pearse Centre Theatre, and will also be using the outside atrium as an architectural percussion instrument and performance space.

This performance is directed and written by Kathleen Warner Yeates, and is an initial “workshop production in progress” of a larger production that will be performed next year. It is inspired by the life of Margaret Pearse, teacher, politician, fund raiser, activist and mother of four. At the end of the performance, a donation will be collected to assist with child care costs for professional working artists in the MAM’s (Mothers Artists Makers) organization.
