Overview About Flying Turtle Productions School

Flying Turtle Productions, (formerly the Abbey School of Drama), is an independent studio located in central Dublin and providing part-time tuition in acting/drama for adults and youths ages 6-96 for all levels of experience, as well as public speaking, Learn English Through Drama, and Screenwriting for adults.

The Drama/Acting School was created under the direction of Kathleen Warner Yeates in 2003, and was originally based in the Abbey School of Music & Drama on Lower Abbey Street (a performing arts school previously founded in 1995 as a collaborative of music teachers and one drama teacher). In October 2016 we separated from the music school and moved to the Ireland Institute on 27 Pearse Street to become Flying Turtle Productions, the resident performing arts company there. Please note that there is NO connection between our school and the Abbey National Theatre.

Please have a peek at the history of our Theatre Productions. We are expanding our work with a core of actors in a production company for theatre and film.

Our Approach

Flying Turtle Productions has established itself as a studio known for a very high standard of tuition and production, with small class sizes and very experienced, dedicated staff. Courses that culminate in a public performance have a high standard of achievement, and tend to attract the student who is motivated and committed. Read more about our principles of operation at our approach.

As part of our commitment to provide the highest quality of tuition for each participant, most class sizes are limited to 12 students maximum (many classes are kept at 8 or 10 students maximum to maintain a high standard).  Many courses fill up far in advance of the start date so be sure to reserve early and get deposits in!  See how our students respond to the courses here: Testimonials

Our Artist-Facilitators

Under the direction of Kathleen Warner Yeates, the acting school features an international team of specialised master instructors all with extensive cross-over experience in teaching, acting, directing, writing and producing. The instructors share a passion and commitment to the highest standard of work. In all acting classes we explore the interplay between imagination, body, voice, ensemble, ease, and focus. Individual participants are encouraged to expand to their own next level of performance in a process focused environment.
