Private Tuition is available in certain circumstances for actors and for non-actors.
We can work with you online, or socially distanced in our studio at 27 Pearse Street, or in a venue provided by you.
The acting process in general is usually best learned in a group class with other performers, so that you are responding and reacting to real moment-to-moment experiences. Please see clarification below. We are happy to arrange one-to-one sessions with Kathleen Warner Yeates for those seeking to develop a particular skill.
Is one-to-one tuition right for me?
One-to-one tuition is most effective when used for a specific purpose or goal, such as:
For Actors: Preparation for an audition, insight on how to develop greater vocal expression, additional guidance for performing a specific role or monologue, guidance/direction for a one-person public performance, or refining acting for the camera or self tape skills. Any on-camera work would be recorded for in-studio use only (not shared) and we would study video playbacks of your work.
For non-Actors: Coaching for sales presentation, pitch or other marketing platform, chair meeting or facilitation of group meeting, preparing a wedding speech, presenting of an academic paper. We can cover vocal techniques to expand/refine expression and can also consult in shaping content. An additional option would be presenting for camera for a sales pitch, documentary film, testimonial or direct marketing online or on ZOOM.
How do I prepare for a private tuition session?
Prior to meeting for private tuition, we would have a phone chat to discuss your specific goals for the session so that preparations can be made. If you have presentation materials or acting monologues, it is important that Kathleen has a “preview” of your content in order to get the most out of the session. Kathleen will work with you for one hour, usually a bit longer for the first session, and also give you additional work to continue on your own.
Where do private sessions take place?
Sessions take place either online or in Flying Turtle Productions, 2nd Floor Studio, 27 Pearse Street, Dublin 2. Alternatively, we can come to your location at a different fee rate. What is the fee?
The fee for private tuition in our studio or online is starting rate of €130 for the first coaching hour, which includes the phone consultation and preparation prior to the session. An additional ‘series’ of sessions may be arranged at a reduced hourly rate after the first session, depending on your needs. An additional fee applies for off-site consultations.
There is a 24/48 hour cancellation policy depending on the type of booking. Once we are less than 24/48 hours of the scheduled session, you would be committed to pay the fee in full for that session regardless of whether or not you attend. This is due to the instructors preparation time, studio reservation, etc.
